Point reactor kinetics, step reactivity — a TI-84 Plus CE program
POINTKIN is a TI-BASIC program for the TI-84 Plus CE. One delayed-neutron group: the two inhour roots, the stable period, the prompt-jump ratio and the neutron level at any time after a reactivity step.
What it asks for and what it shows
It asks for 5 values at its prompts. In the example below it shows S1 1/S, S2 1/S, N/N0, PJ N/N0, PERIOD S.
Example run
One of its oracle test cases: “+0.5 dollar step”. The inputs are typed in order, and the results are the values the case expects on the screen.
| Step | Value |
|---|---|
| You enter | |
| Input 1 | 0.5 |
| Input 2 | 0.0065 |
| Input 3 | 0.08 |
| Input 4 | 0.0001 |
| Input 5 | 10 |
| The screen shows | |
S1 1/S= | 0.07960903626 |
S2 1/S= | -32.65960904 |
N/N0= | 4.412125109 |
PJ N/N0= | 2 |
PERIOD S= | 12.561 |
How it's checked
6 test cases, each checked against an independent method. Replayed key by key on a virtual TI-84 Plus CE, they make 38 checks.
How E-Code checks every program
Run it or put it on your calculator
- Open the library in the TI-84 Plus CE calculator and pick “Point reactor kinetics, step reactivity” (POINTKIN).
- Put it on your own calculator with a computer and a USB cable, or type it in by hand.
