Science on a TI-89: how-to guides
5 guides for science on the TI-89 Titanium. Each one shows the keys to press, step by step.
The guides
- Convert units: Type the value with its unit (◆ MODE types _, so 3_ft), press 2nd MODE for ▶, type the new unit (_m) and press ENTER: 3_ft▶_m gives .9144·_m.
- Use built-in physics constants: Press 2nd 3 for UNITS, ▶ to open Constants, ▼ to _g and ENTER to paste it: ENTER shows 9.80665·_m/_s^2.
- Solve a formula for any variable: Press APPS and pick Numeric Solver, type the formula on the eqn: line (d=v*t+1/2*a*t^2) and ENTER, fill in the known letters, put the cursor on the unknown and press F2 (Solve).
- Use scientific notation: Type the number, press EE and the power of ten: 6.02 EE 23 is 6.02E23.
- Use units in a calculation: Give each number its unit (◆ MODE types _): 5_N*2_m ENTER gives 10.·_J, since the units multiply too.
