Press 2nd 7 for ∫(, then type the function, the variable and the two limits separated by commas, close with ) and press ENTER: ∫(x^2,x,0,2) gives 8/3.

Step by step

  1. Type ∫(. 2nd 7 Press 2nd, then 7. 2nd 7 is ∫, the exact integral.
  2. Type the integral. X ^ 2 , X , 0 , 2 ) Type x^2, x, 0, 2 and ). That is: the function, the variable, then where the area starts and ends.
  3. Work it out. ENTER Press ENTER. The TI-89 integrates with algebra, so the answer is exact.
