How to find any command in the catalog on a TI-84 Plus CE

Press 2nd CATALOG (above 0); letters are already on, so press the key of a command's first letter (4 is T) to jump there, ▼ to the command and ENTER to paste it. Commands on no menu, like tanh(, are all there.

Step by step

  1. Open CATALOG. 2nd 0 Press 2nd, then 0. CATALOG (above 0) lists every command A to Z, even ones on no menu.
  2. Jump to T. 4 Press 4. In CATALOG the letters are already on, so this is T (above 4): the list jumps to the first T command.
  3. Go down to tanh(. ▼ ▼ ▼ Press ▼ three times, past tan⁻¹( and Tangent(, to move the ▶ onto tanh(, the hyperbolic tangent. It's on no menu, only in CATALOG.
  4. Paste it. ENTER Press ENTER. tanh( is pasted where you type on the home screen.
  5. Finish the line. 1 ) Type 1 and ).
  6. Get the answer. ENTER Press ENTER.
  7. Any command in a few keys. tanh(1) = .7615… A letter jumps close, ▼ finds the command, ENTER pastes it: no hunting through menus.
