- Reuse an old answer: Press ▲ to scroll up into your history until the answer you want is highlighted, then press ENTER to paste it where you type.
- Reuse an old line (TI-83 Plus): Press 2nd, then ENTER: ENTRY brings back the last line you typed, and each extra press goes one line further back.
- Keep going from the last answer: Start a new line with +, −, × or ÷ and the calculator writes Ans, the last answer, in front of it: after 5×4 = 20, pressing − 6 ENTER works out Ans−6 = 14.
- Store a number in a letter: Type the number, press STO→, then ALPHA and a letter (ALPHA MATH is A) and ENTER.
- Find any command in the catalog (TI-84 Plus): Press 2nd CATALOG (above 0); letters are already on, so press the key of a command's first letter (4 is T) to jump there, ▼ to the command and ENTER to paste it.

- Turn a decimal into a fraction (TI-84 Plus CE): Type the decimal, press MATH, ▶ four times to FRAC, 3 for ►F◄►D and ENTER: .375 becomes 3/8.
